Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a dynamic three-day leadership conference designed to empower and recognize outstanding youth leaders. Sponsored by all the Rotary Clubs in District 5330, encompassing San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, RYLA offers a unique blend of learning, personal growth, and fun in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Held over two weekends at the picturesque Thousand Pines Camp in Crestline, California, RYLA provides high school juniors with an unforgettable experience. Participants are selected based on their leadership potential, personal values, intelligence, and promise for future success. The Riverside Sunrise Rotary Club’s screening committee carefully interviews students from Arlington High School, choosing those best suited to benefit from this transformative opportunity.
Throughout the weekend, attendees engage in inspiring presentations from accomplished leadership speakers. These sessions are complemented by small group discussions led by trained adult facilitators, allowing participants to reflect on and apply what they’ve learned. The program also includes various recreational activities, including sports, games, and a lively Saturday carnival, all set against the backdrop of a beautiful natural setting. Delicious meals and snacks are provided throughout the weekend, ensuring participants are well-nourished and energized.
Thanks to the generosity of the Riverside Sunrise Rotary Club, there is no cost for students to attend. The club covers the $450 fee for each camper, making this life-changing experience accessible to all selected participants.
This year, from March 22-24, 2024, six students from Arlington High School joined nearly 300 other juniors at camp, representing the future leaders of our community.
